On May 16, 2007, Caroline Wiren died at the age of 34 in Tampa, Florida, shortly after the birth of her first baby at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital. Her healthy son, Clay, weighed 9 pounds 3 ounces at birth.
She was the head coach of the University of South Florida dance team and wife of Tampa Bay Storm linebacker Nyle Wiren. She also coached the Storm Cheerleaders for two years. Before making the move to Florida, she attended the University of Mississippi.
Caroline Wiren’s labor was induced at 41 weeks of pregnancy. Her mother, a retired teacher, was with her at the time of birth. According to her, Caroline Wiren was conscious after the birth, but it was immediately clear that something was wrong. She went into surgery and then to an intensive care unit, where she died the next morning.
