Patricia Lopez

Patricia Lopez, 23, died November 29, 1998, in Chicago, Illinois, of complications stemming from severe preeclampsia. Her third baby, born by emergency cesarean, survived. Ms. Lopez, however developed HELLP syndrome and disseminated intravascular coagulation and died from an intracerebral hemorrhage 36 hours after giving birth. She is survived by her husband and three children (aged 2, 1, and 2 days at the time of her death). Her husband committed suicide two months after her death. The children live with Mrs. Lopez's mother.
