Katie Flyte

Katie Flyte, 27- Puyallup, Washington, was a healthy young woman six months pregnant with her first child, when she contracted the H1N1 virus. While caring for her sick 2-year-old, she developed flu-like symptoms that were misdiagnosed. She later developed pneumonia, then respiratory failure, and was placed in a medically-induced coma. Her premature daughter was delivered by cesarean, and Katie died soon after. Katie's husband, Kenny, a laid-off construction worker, is now taking care of thier children.
