Denise Puckett
In the early hours of October 1, 1998, Denise Puckett died of an amniotic fluid embolism in Dallas, Georgia. She was 37 years old and the mother of a 10-year-old daughter named Rachel. Besides raising her daughter, who is retarded, she was a sales representative for Mary Kaye Cosmetics.
Mrs. Puckett went to the hospital in labor at 39 weeks of gestation. A small woman, she had gained 50 pounds during her pregnancy. She was attended in labor by two certified nurse-midwives. At approximately 4:00 a.m., she was lying on her side and had been told that the baby's heartrate was all right. She suddenly sat up and said, I don't feel so good. Then she stopped breathing. Her doctor was summoned to the hospital. His efforts to revive her were futile, and she died at 4:45 a.m.
She is survived by her daughter and her husband, who live in Dallas, Georgia.
